A Modern Day Affair
A conceptual photo series tracing emotional distance (2023–ongoing)
Exhibited in In Our Own Frame, Singapore Art Week 2026, Guoco Midtown, Singapore. Presented by DECK Photography Art Centre Ltd. Exhibiting A Modern Day Affair.
A Modern Day Affair is an ongoing staged photographic series that began when cracks developed in my marriage. Through self-portraits, object-based images, and photographs made with my husband, I stage exaggerated scenes of distance, longing, and humour to express what words could not. Rooted in personal experience, the series reflects on intimacy in the digital age and how smartphones can quietly erode closeness over time.
Movie night, but his eyes stay on his phone.
Glued to his phone as I bathe him like a baby.
Anger on a lifeless object—still meaningless.
A cracked screen protector on a cake—not celebration.
Lost in the fog—not looking at each other.
