Bio
Kantaya New is a Thai–Singaporean photo artist based in Singapore, working across street and conceptual photography. Having lived in Bangkok, Tokyo, and Singapore, she brings a perspective shaped by all three cities.
Her street photos are a counter-reaction to modern day life. Where life increasingly feels too "optimized" and "organized," she is drawn to the random moments where that order breaks down. She looks beyond simple visual coincidences to the layer of meaning underneath — finding "unpolished diamonds" buried in the busyness of everyday life.
Her conceptual practice explores modern relationships in A Modern Day Affair, reality and imagination in The Little Prince, and identity in Dare to be You. Each series uses staged scenes, often layered with humour, to say what words cannot.
Across both practices, she treats photography as "slow living" — slowing down to appreciate the gems we already have but fail to notice.
