A street series on belonging and invisibility—unstaged moments of people half-seen in public space (2025)
The Odd One Out?
I grew up in Bangkok, graduated in Tokyo, then moved to Singapore for work.
Later I followed my husband back to Tokyo, and returned to Singapore again during COVID.
Each move made sense at the time. But after years of packing up and starting over,
I stopped knowing exactly where I belonged.
People still ask me, "Where are you from?" I never have a short answer.
Walking through Singapore, everything feels familiar — and slightly off at the same time.
This series comes from that feeling. I photograph real, unstaged moments.
I just notice the moments where someone is present but not fully seen — and I recognize something in that.
These photographs are not about self-pity.
They are about the experience of always being slightly out of place — present, but never fully landing.
Man dissolves into mist beneath high-rises.
Renovation tarp erases the man’s head.
Headless cutout; passerby lost in phone.

Walker passes a silhouette, echoing his shape.
Grimy mirror holds a faint self-portrait.
