Kantaya New Wins the LensCulture Critics' Choice Award 2023
Kantaya New has been selected as one of 48 winners of the LensCulture Critics' Choice Award 2023 for the series The Little Prince.
The work was chosen by Azu Nwagbogu, Founder and Director of Lagos Photo Festival and the African Artists' Foundation. The 2023 jury included editors and curators from National Geographic, The New York Times, The Guardian, Christie's, LACMA, National Portrait Gallery, and The Photographers' Gallery, among others.
The Little Prince is a conceptual photo series about the child that lives in all of us. It began with a chance encounter at artist Mr. Yip Yew Chong's live mural painting in Chinatown, and became a series following a boy named Akkun through Singapore.
